Toronto Star Prints Lies About Jobs Justice And Climate March! (Feat. Jane Fonda)

Lies, lies, lies, yeah!

Lies, lies, lies, yeah!

Yesterday afternoon, reading through media reports on Sunday’s march for Jobs Justice and Climate I noticed an anomaly in the Toronto Star. Their article, as you can see above, claims that David Suzuki, Jane Fonda, and Naomi Klein “marched loudly through downtown Toronto on Sunday”.

One of the habits I have when reporting on a march is to stand at the front with my video camera and make an end-to-end recording of the march. On Sunday I did just that, not only wanting to catch the video, but looking out for David Suzuki- I had a brief encounter with him earlier (he recognized me, guessing he’s a reader), but I had some questions about Suzuki and his grandson’s bad behaviour on Burnaby Mountain.

So I wrote to both the Star and their staff writer Tamara Khandaker, and asked them to confirm to me where they saw Suzuki and Fonda in the march. The only response I got was from CUPE’s communications staffer Kevin Wilson, a nasty little man who tried to deflect my questions spreading FUD. Well, today the evidence has come in- the Toronto Star’s article was a fabrication.

She didn't even come prepared to march...

She didn’t even come prepared to march…

It was obvious to me something was up when I interviewed Fonda that she wasn’t planning to march (stay-tuned for an upcoming article with all of the details). She didn’t come wearing walking shoes, but a fashionable pair of unpadded sandals- Fonda would be nuts if she tried to walk down hot downtown tarmac wearing these.

The truth came out this morning in an article by Luisa D’Amato of the Waterloo Region Record:

Truth, truth, truth, yeah!

Truth, truth, truth, yeah!

According to D’Amato’s report, Fonda left with her grandson before the march and hopped into a cab with her grandson- “I’ve got a plane to catch,” she said. Which brings us to the Toronto Star’s story, there’s no way they could have seen her marching “loudly”, she wasn’t part of the march.

Folks, be careful when reading the Toronto Star- they might not be telling the truth. Please note the tweet below, they were alerted to this problem over 20 hours ago and still have done nothing to fix it- Brian Williams is blushing…

Jane Fonda, Suzuki, Di Caprice, Al Gore all want us to follow their environment example.

Like: flying and owning private jets, driving big gas guzzling trucks and SUVs, owning huge mansions and ranches.

For a moment there I though my simple life small van and house and less traveling was environmental friendly but I was wrong. I guess I have to change my ways to follow the role models of environment gurus. Thanks Jane, Al, Suzuki and Di Caprio, for influencing me with your style of climate change.

I know, I just can’t live that large, guess I’m not “green” enough yet.

Yep, you either walk in their shoes or you a climate denier.

I hope we get a lot of ‘Fossil’ Awards’ since the fossil earned it.

You should email the Toronto Star’s public editor – Kathy English – to let her know that one of their writers lied in an article. This could get her fired! Here are the emails for English and Star editor Michael Cooke

    [email protected] [email protected]

I sent them an email re: Catherine Porters lies about her encounter with Ezra Levant at this demonstration and got a prompt reply.

BTW I left a question for you at this article
